Despite extreme heat and drought conditions, crews work to maintain trails

The Mountain Trails crew has been busy

PARK CITY, Utah — Over 90 degrees at 7,000 feet is atypical, yet those have been the local trails’ conditions over the past few weeks. Trails manager Rick Fournier said they’ve gone “full-lunar.”

The Mountain Trails crew has worked on trails such as Mid Mountain, Little Chief, Sam’s, John’s ’99, Link, Empire Link, Apex, Jenni’s, and Spiro. Crews have also finished up tread and drainage work on Jenni’s trail. Construction of new trails is also ongoing, with a new hand-built hiking trail being constructed between Charlie’s 9K and Mid Mountain.

The Round Valley signage overhaul project is also progressing, with older bridges being repaired and new ones being built.
