Wasatch County Council approves $285K in grants for trails, arts and parks

This is the first wave of grants funded by the local Trails, Arts and Parks Tax approved by Wasatch County voters in 2022

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The Wasatch County Council approved over $285,000 in grants on Wednesday, June 24, to fund 13 projects that aim to improve arts, parks and trails county-wide.

The TAP Tax Advisory Board, made up of Wasatch County residents, reviewed and scored each grant application. Ultimately, the board was able to allocate full or partial funding to each applicant.

“The Wasatch County TAP Tax Board is grateful for the opportunity to steward the money collected for this year’s grant application process,” said Alese Overly, Wasatch County TAP Tax Advisory Board chair. “We saw multiple collaborative projects that align with our goals to enhance, improve and strengthen our arts, parks and trails. The awarded grant projects will not only significantly impact today’s residents and visitors but also those of tomorrow.”

After funding the projects, 10% of the total tax collected will be allocated to build reserves, and the remaining $52,348 will be available for the next grant cycle.
