Structure collapse in Summit Park: No injuries reported

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The Park City Fire District responded to a structure collapse in Summit Park on the evening of Wednesday, April 3.

According to a statement from the PCFD, a detached garage gave way before settling on a hillside below the residence at approximately 9:30 p.m. The incident did not result in any injuries.

Fire Marshal Mike Owens provided details on the collapse, noting the structure’s age and minimal contents as factors that likely mitigated the damage.

“It was a garage that was built somewhere in the ’80s. The person who owned the house didn’t keep anything in the garage other than a snowblower and some ice melt.”

Owens further assured that there was no damage to surrounding structures or utilities, and the residents of the house remain in their home.

“It looks like the structure itself just failed.”
