Park City anticipates two feet of fresh snow as March arrives

PARK CITY, Utah — The National Weather Service has issued an urgent winter weather message early this Friday, March 1, highlighting a winter storm watch that remains in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon for the Wasatch Back, including Park City, Heber City, and the Bear Lake and Bear River Valley areas.

Timing: The watch is set from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon.

Location: Wasatch Back and Bear Lake and Bear River Valley, including Huntsville, Park City, Heber City, Woodruff, Randolph, and Garden City.

Snow Accumulations: 8 to 16 inches possible for the Wasatch Back.

Wind Gusts: Could reach as high as 60 mph.

• Today: Snow chances increase after 11 am, mixing with rain after 2 pm. Highs near 44°F with gusty winds up to 40 mph. Little to no snow accumulation expected.
• Tonight: Rain and snow mix early, transitioning to snow with lows around 35°F. Windy conditions continue, with gusts up to 55 mph.
• Saturday: Heavy snow expected, with temperatures dropping to around 26°F by late afternoon. Windy, with new snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
• Saturday Night: Continued heavy snow with lows around 17°F and new accumulations of 5 to 9 inches possible.
• Sunday: Snow with highs near 28°F and an additional 3 to 7 inches of snow possible.
