SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A winter storm has overtaken the valley, with high winds, thunder snow, and squalls creating extremely unsafe driving conditions in the area. I-80 in particular has been reported with icy roads, low visibility, and multiple crashes causing partial closures in both directions in Parley’s Canyon.
Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has reported that a jackknifed semi is blocking the right lanes of Westbound I-80 at mile marker 140 (Summit Park) and are asking drivers to avoid this area if possible.
Traction devices are also being required for those driving up Marsac Avenue.
A winter storm warning remains in effect until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 with periods of heavy snow likely to continue through this evening.
