Attend a free movie screening and meet-and-greet with avalanche dogs

PARK CITY, Utah — Adventure enthusiasts and dog lovers alike are in for a treat this month as three local organizations are planning a free event to teach people about the exceptional lives of avalanche dogs and give them the chance to meet the real-life four-legged heroes in person.

Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter, Park City Library and Wasatch Backcountry Rescue will screen Superpower Dogs at Jim Santy Auditorium, Wednesday, March 27, from 6-8p.m. The film offers viewers a captivating glimpse into the heroic world of rescue dogs. After the movie, the audience will also have the unique opportunity to meet avalanche dogs, forging a deeper connection with the courageous canines who risk it all to save lives. The event is part of the Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter’s current traveling exhibition, Snow: Tiny Crystals, Global Impact. The exhibit opened on Jan. 13 and runs through May 5 and explores the nature of snow and the impact of climate change on the planet.

“Snow is essential to not only our ecosystem here in Park City, but also to our culture, economy, and recreation. In addition to hosting this exhibition, we wanted to find hands-on opportunities to highlight the many ways our community interacts with snow. We’re excited to be partnering with WBR and the Park City Library to highlight the important services Wasatch Backcountry Rescue provides to help us stay safe in the snow and outdoors,” says Hunter Klingensmith, director of visitor experience and exhibits at Swaner.
