WATCH: Skier’s close call with an avalanche on Park City Ridgeline

PARK CITY, Utah — Michael Fischer shared this video on youtube of the third skier in a group triggering an avalanche off of the Park City ridgeline on Feb. 17. The skiers were on Dutch Draw, Conehead, a Southeast aspect typically accessed from the Peak 5 gates at Park City Mountain. The Utah Avalanche Center reports the snow failed on the old snow interface creating an avalanche that was 2.5′ deep and 50′ wide. After triggering the slide the skier was able to cut hard right and avoid being caught in the avalanche.

The Utah Avalanche Center said on Monday that 25 avalanches reported have been reported in the Salt Lake, Ogden, and Provo area mountains since Friday.
