Soil removal project continues at Treasure Mountain over Feb. break
PARK CITY, Utah — The Treasure Mountain Junior High (TMJH) soil removal project is scheduled during the President’s week break from Feb. 19 – 23, according to a statement by the Park City School District.
By conducting the soil removal during the weeklong break, potential disruptions to academic activities and daily routines will be minimized. The operation will also occur during daylight hours, a measure aimed at reducing disturbances to the local community during nighttime.
While acknowledging that this may cause some inconvenience during the break, TMJH administration reassures stakeholders that all necessary precautions are being taken to safeguard the health and safety of everyone involved.
Access to the school grounds and parking will be prohibited during the operation, with access granted solely to removal crews.
The soil clean-up project will most likely not be fully completed during the February break, especially with the upcoming weather causing delays in progress. However, the district plans to continue the final round of cleanup during the April break.
“Even if everything goes perfectly well, we’ll be going into April. I hope we can be done, but again, there’s a lot of factors that we can’t anticipate with the weather and other extenuating circumstances. And, if we have to go into the end of the school year, then that’s what will happen,” said Heidi Matthews, the Community Relations head at Park City School District. “But regardless, we’ll be making sure that we are following all the proper procedures. Health and safety is priority, and our students and staff will not be on site.”
Those with any inquiries or concerns should reach out to the TMJH administration.
