Watch Erikson, Grenier luge in Jr. World Cup at Utah Olympic Park, Nov. 30-Dec. 3

PARK CITY, Utah — USA Luge, in conjunction with members of Park City’s Wasatch Luge Club will host athletes coming to North America for the International Luge Federation’s (FIL) Junior Luge World Cup, on Thursday, Nov. 30 through Sunday, Dec. 3. at the Utah Olympic Park.

Pete Gillwald, Wasatch Luge Club president, told TownLift, “It’s great to have the next generation of luge athletes coming to Park City for this first of this winter’s two junior world cups being hosted in town. Many of these athletes have never had the opportunity to slide on this track so it’s another learning experience. For the luge officials working the race, it’s another opportunity to hone their skills over four days of high level competition.”

The schedule includes both junior men’s and women’s singles races, as well as junior men’s and women’s doubles.  

 USA Luge athletes expected to compete include 2022 Junior World Championship bronze medalist Matt Greiner from Park City and among leaders in the women’s singles is Park City’s Emma Erikson.

  • Thursday, Nov. 30, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Junior Men’s Race #1, 1-2:30 p.m., Men’s and Women’s Doubles Race #1
  • Friday, Dec. 1, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Junior Women’s Race #1, 1-2 p.m., Team Competition #1
  • Saturday, Dec. 2, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Junior Men’s Race #2, 1-2:30 p.m., Men’s and Women’s Doubles Race #2, Awards Ceremonies
  • Sunday, Dec. 3, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Junior Women’s Race #2, 1-2 p.m., Team Competition #2, Awards Ceremonies
