Utah National Guard assists with rescue of four overdue hikers

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah – On Wednesday Aug 2. the Utah Department of Public Safety and Utah National Guard were called in for helicopter support to rescue four overdue hikers near Center Creek, Utah. Four people (1- 50 yr old male and 3 kids) had left camp for a short hike, however they did not return and had no provisions. Cold and stormy weather complicated the rescue efforts for Wasatch County Search and Rescue as the overnight weather forecast was for low temps and a lot of rain.

One of the choppers located the missing party around 9:30 p.m. and all of the missing hikers were hoisted by the National Guard Chopper and transported back to Heber. They were cold and wet but in good condition.
