Utah DABS announces new online licensing and permitting system
UTAH — The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS) announced today a breakthrough in how businesses and organizations handle records, payments, and alcohol licensing.
The new DABS Online Licensing & Permitting System offers a fully integrated, web-based solution that eliminates the need for tedious drives to the administrative office.
Now, businesses can conveniently manage all their alcohol licensing and permitting needs in one place. This innovative system marks a significant milestone in streamlining alcohol licensing and permitting processes, making it easier and more efficient for businesses across Utah.
Businesses and organizations can begin the process by creating an account in the new system and following the steps to match existing records to their account portal. Further information and tutorials can be accessed on the DABS website, where users can explore the resources available to facilitate a seamless experience.
“The new system is a game changer for business owners, event organizers, and everyone who interacts with the DABS to legally manage their operations,” Tiffany Clason, DABS executive director, said in a press release. “This long-overdue system will save businesses and organizations a lot of time while improving transparency in interacting with the department and providing safe, reliable, consistent record keeping.
To ensure a smooth transition, especially for the 1,200 Utah restaurants that must renew their licensing by September 30, 2023, the department is organizing two virtual demonstrations on August 22 and August 30. These sessions will guide users through the system, providing step-by-step instructions. Registration for these demonstrations can be accessed through the DABS website.
“The new system is a huge improvement for business owners who want to operate legally and safely with little red tape getting in the way.” Michele Corigliano, executive director of the Salt Lake Area Restaurant Association (SLARA), said in a press release. “I appreciate that the DABS is building strong partnerships and taking steps to better support those in our industry.”
The new system was announced during the 2021-2022 Utah legislative session, following the availability of funding. This online system is just one of the many service enhancements promised by DABS. Other initiatives include a help desk, recently launched, as well as ongoing projects such as IT infrastructure for state liquor stores, a new Click & Collect program, and a wine subscription program.
