The Solomon Fund focuses on creating access to sports and recreation to Latinx youth at the Park City Ice Arena.

Beano Solomon, founder of the Solomon Fund, said to PCCF: “It’s a great feeling to see so many organizations coming together in the spirit of inclusion, and the initiative enjoying the full trust of the Latino community”.

One of the ways they create access is through their Super Sunday event, where they gather more than 20 recreation providers to offer their programs to families, with scholarships, and Spanish-Speaking volunteers to help with registrations.

Partnering organizations included:

In addition, they invited community resources such as the Park City School District which offered English classes, PC Tots, Holy Cross Ministries, and they hosted eye exams at the event with the Hope Alliance.

“We also had a community conversations in Spanish with University of Utah health Plans who did a Medical Insurance 101 talk, as well as MountainLands Community Housing Trust, which chatted about affordable housing opportunities,” José Chacón, PCCF outreach and impact coordinator, told TownLift.

He added, “I think my favorite part of the event however was seeing all the families ice skating for free at the Ice Arena. It really showed the community connection that we are making, thus creating a more inclusive Park City”.
