Keegan Swenson sets course record, third consecutive win in Leadville 100 MTB

LEADVILLE, Colo. — For the third year in a row, Keegan Swenson, from Park City, and currently residing in Heber City, won the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike race in Colorado.

This time, on Saturday, August 12 with a time of 5:43.21. It was a new course record.

With a pace mph of 17.47, he completed the 100 mile course in what organizers call, “one of the most challenging and prestigious mountain bike races in the world.”

Located between Breckenridge and Aspen, Leadville has hosted this event since 1994. It challenges world-class riders with a 12,000 foot elevation gain, reaching a peak of 12,600 feet above sea level.

Keegan represented the U.S. in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

No stranger to a podium, in recent years Swenson has held titles in similar races in Telluride, Breckenridge, Pikes Peak. He’s been a stage winner in Switzerland and a 2019 Elite National Champion.  

He wrote on Facebook: “Thin air, don’t care.” And, “This one feels good.”
