Park City announcers call Department of Defense’s Warrior Games

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — From June 2-12 San Diego played host to the Department of Defense’s Warrior Games where two Park City sports announcers, Chris Waddell and Carl Roepke, had the honor of calling events.

Men and women of the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Special Ops. competed in archery, cycling, golf, indoor rowing, powerlifting, precision air sports, sitting volleyball, swimming, track/field, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby.

Formerly known as the Wounded Warrior Games, the event features elite adaptive sports.

Prince Harry was on the Naval base where it was held on the final day of competition to meet and greet and show his support for the athletes.

Waddell is a retired Summer and Winter Paralympic multimedal-winner and NBC Paralympic coverage anchor/Opening Ceremony commentator, and sport commentator.

Roepke is a multi-time Summer and Winter Olympics, Paralympics and Youth Olympics P.A. announcer. He announced the Warrior Games when it was held a few years ago at the Air Force Academy, utilizing some facilities at the U.S. Olympic/Paralympic headquarters in Colorado Springs.

Park City’s National Ability Center offers military camps and expeditions, military individual instruction, military family programs, and military adventures.
