New Red Pine Gondola cabins have arrived

PARK CITY, Utah – The days of faulty cabin doors on the Red Pine Gondola might just be a thing of the past. The new Red Pine Gondola cabins have arrived at the Canyons Village base area. Slated to be installed this Summer – Fall.

Sara Huey, Senior Manager of Communications for Park City Mountain told TownLift “Twenty-nine of the total fifty-five new cabins will be installed prior to Canyons Village summer opening, scheduled for June 30 (conditions permitting). The other half will be installed in the month of September following necessary ground work.”

The removal of the old cabins and installation of new ones will be led by the Park City Mountain lift maintenance team in cooperation with the manufacturer, Leitner-Poma of America.

Of the 60 retiring cabins, 30 are being auctioned, with the proceeds going to Early Childhood Alliance through the Park City Community Foundation. Among the remaining cabins, 5 will be auctioned to benefit the Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History for their efforts to preserve mining structures in our community. Another 15 will be auctioned at a later date to benefit the EpicPromise Employee Foundation, which offers grants of financial support to help Vail Resorts employees in times of need.

The upgraded cabins are part of ongoing capital improvement projects by Vail Resorts that originally included upgrades to the Silver Lode and Eagle lifts. However due to permitting issues and local push back the lifts originally slated to be upgraded at Park City Mountain were sent to Whistler Blackcomb. The gondola cabin upgrades are not required to go through a public permitting process and are expected to be completed this Fall.
