Highway 39 closed after Ogden River causes partial road collapse

UTAH — With the Ogden River running fast and high, the roadway on Highway 39 near the mouth of Ogden Canyon in Weber County has collapsed into the river. The highway will be closed indefinitely until repairs can be completed. The damage was caused after a section of the bank underneath the road washed away, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. Crews are on-site evaluating damage and determining the extent of repairs needed to fix the damage.
SR-39 through Ogden Canyon is closed from the mouth of the canyon to Pineview Reservoir. The high water in the river washed away a section of bank underneath the road.
