Expect delays on US-40 north of Heber as UDOT resumes bridge deck replacement project
HEBER CITY, Utah — Starting today, drivers should plan for eastbound delays on US-40 north of Heber as the Utah Department of Transportation resumes its bridge deck replacement project on over the Provo River.
US-40 will be reduced to one eastbound lane 24 hours a day until early August while UDOT crews work to replace the driving surface on the bridge over the river.
“This project helps keep US-40 – one of our state’s most important highways – in good condition,” said Craig Hancock, UDOT project manager. “By replacing the bridge driving surface, we are ensuring that drivers can continue to rely on this bridge for years to come.”
During this time UDOT will implement a highway crossover, which will shift all traffic from eastbound lanes to westbound lanes while crews replace the eastbound bridge deck. This crossover will begin on May 6, and drivers should expect moderate to heavy travel delays on US-40 during the afternoon commute.
