Occupants walk away from helicopter crash near Pine Canyon

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A helicopter from the Utah State University flight school crashed near the Pine Canyon area on Saturday, April 8. 

According to a statement from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a call reporting the crash at approximately 12:50 p.m. 

It was determined that the occupants of the helicopter had been practicing landings when the pilot misread the crosswind, causing the aircraft to crash. 

Both the pilot and instructor were uninjured in the crash, and were able to walk down to Pine Canyon Road where they were picked up by the Wasatch County Search and Rescue.
