I-80 to close for construction in Salt Lake City April 14-16
SALT LAKE CITY — As a part of the I-80 and I-215 renewed project, I-80 will be closed in both directions between 700 East and Foothill Drive in Salt Lake City beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday April 14.
The area will remain closed until Monday, April 17 at 5 a.m. so that Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) crews can replace the 1300 East bridge over I-80 in Salt Lake City.
“The new 1300 East bridge is being built next to the existing bridge,” said a statement from UDOT. “When the new bridge is finished, the team will demolish the existing 1300 East bridge over I-80 and slide the new bridge into place, which will take place over the weekend of April 14-16.”
UDOT anticipates that this closure will cause heavy traffic delays, and has recommended that drivers use I-15 and I-215 as an alternate route.
