Summit County restaurant tax grant applications close March 31
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Applications are currently open for Summit County’s 2023 restaurant tax grant program.
In 2022 40 applicants requested over $4 million in grant funds. Ultimately, $2,986,000 in grant allocations were approved for use. In 2023 3,856,000 in funds are available for distribution.
These funds are collected through the 1% tax charged at all restaurants within Summit County, and the tax grant program is intended to promote tourism. The 2023 grant cycle marks the 32nd year that restaurant tax grants will be issued in Summit County.
Applications close at 5 p.m. on March 31, and interviews will take place on May 2 and May 3 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Applications will be scored on the following criteria:
- Sustainable Tourism based – up to 20 points
- Cultural tourism – up to 10 points Leverage – up to 15 points
- Ability to increase the 1% restaurant tax – up to 20 points
- New & Developing – up to 10 points
- Asset – up to 25 points
Financial reporting is required on grant applications, and not reporting on time could result in penalties or organization disqualification.
