USA Skimo announces World Championship Team

SILVERTHORNE, Colorado — USA Skimo (Ski Mountaineering) announced on Monday the 21 athletes that will represent the United States of America at the 2023 World Championships, held February 28 through March 5 in Boí Taüll, Spain.
 
Skimo competitors race up a mountain with their skis, when they reach the top, it’s a race down the mountain and across a finish line.
 
Some of these elite athletes have been competing in the World Cup this season and have achieved excellent performances so far. The remainder of the athletes have been competing at USA Skimo National Cup events in preparation for World Championships. 

The US Team will have a good mix of seasoned veterans alongside many team members participating in their first World Championship. John Gaston and Tom Goth will be competing in their 6th World Championships. Grace Staberg and Cam Smith will be competing in their 3rd World Championships.

Park City’s Adam Loomis, who competes in the Senior Male category, is on the USA Skimo National Team but, along with nine other athletes, is unable to attend World Championships. Loomis is the Director and  Head Coach of the Park City Ski and Snowboard – Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, and Skimo Teams. He’ll be accompanying those athletes at the USA Nordic, US Cup in Vermont and the Jr. National Championships in Minnesota from February 16-26. He has represented the U.S. Ski Team in European World Championships in Nordic Combined.
