Multiple lanes closed in Provo Canyon for avalanche control work

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The Utah Department of Transportation has recommended that drivers consider using an alternative route through Provo Canyon for approximately the next two hours.

Multiple lanes are closed on a two mile stretch of U.S. 189 through Provo Canyon between milepost 17 and milepost 19 near Deer Creek Dam in Wasatch County as workers perform avalanche control work.

As of 2:03 p.m. a single eastbound lane is from Orem to Heber, and all westbound lanes are still closed.
