Public meeting for new SR-32 trail design through Kamas
KAMAS, Utah — Summit County Engineering and UDOT will be hosting a public meeting in the Kamas Library building on September 29 from 5 – 7 p.m. to discuss the addition of a new trail design for SR-32 in Kamas.
According to a Summit County Facebook post, the objectives of the public meeting are as follows:
- Provide an overview of the SR-32 trail
- Identify needs for the trail through Kamas
- Brainstorm potential solutions
You can register to participate in the event here.
The project to update the trail’s connection to Kamas Valley started in the early 2000s but never reached completion. Last year, a petition by the South Summit Trails Foundation gained around 2,000 signatures to restart the project.
According to the summit’s staff report from March 2022, SR-32 currently ends near Marion Park. The proposed plan would extend it by a bit under three miles into Kamas. Summit County will fund the trail from three different grants as well as Transportation Sales Tax assets. The trail is estimated to cost around $1.5 million.
