Park City’s SOS Outreach wins Utah’s Every Kid Outdoors award

PARK CITY, Utah — SOS Outreach, a local youth development nonprofit, was granted the Every Kid Outdoors award by the Utah Outdoor Summit on September 12. The award is part of the state’s Every Kid Outdoors Initiative, designed to help Utah kids through outdoor activities.

The award was granted because of SOS Outreach’s “outstanding work at the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion and the outdoors.” SOS Outreach’s programming focuses on placing youth with positive adult mentors in “powerful outdoor experiences” to help them overcome everyday challenges. It gives youth access to sports they might not be able to participate in, including Utah winter sports.

Park City Program Manager Palmer Daniels said the following in reference to the award:

“Our goal is to use snowsports to help kids and teens develop leadership skills, learn core values, and ultimately uncover their full potential. On behalf of our participants, mentors, and staff at SOS, we are so incredibly grateful to be recognized for the impact we’re having in the community.”

SOS is planning to help even more kids hit the slopes in the 2022-23 winter season. Daniels continued, saying:

“We are looking forward to the winter season ahead, and receiving the Every Kid Outdoors award has given us all an added boost of momentum. We can’t wait to be back with our participants and support them as they accomplish incredible things!”
