Best Park City hikes for fall leaves

PARK CITY, Utah – Grab your pumpkin spice latte, hiking boots, sweaters, and Insta-filters and get out there with some of the best hiking views for fall leaves Utah has to offer, right here in Park City.

You’ve probably noticed that some trees are changing their leaves early this year. That means that fall color fans around Park City will have to get out and enjoy them even earlier than usual. Whether you’re partial to Rocky Mountain Maples, Box Elders, or Aspens, Park City hiking trails will not disappoint.

These are some of TownLift staff’s favorite hikes for the fall season:

Iron Canyon Trail is a short but steep hike that ends with a panoramic view of Park City, perfect to see the city in all of its fall color splendor. Iron Canyon Trail is a bit less trafficked than other trails, meaning it could be a good fit for an intimate hike with a friend or loved one. It is short enough to do after work one day.

McLeod Creek Trail is a bit longer at 6 miles out-and-back. It is a good fit for hikers of all ages, as it is mostly loose gravel. Dogs are welcome even off-leash in some areas on this hike, making it a good fit for a pet-centered fall photoshoot.

Bloods Lake Trail comes in shorter at about 2.7 miles out-and-back. This trail will take hikers through dense Aspen groves and some meadows on the same hike, which could make it a top contender for some.

Silver Lake Trail is a personal favorite, taking hikers on a 4.7 mile out-and-back journey starting from Deer Valley to the summit of Bald mountain. This view is hard to beat, but hikers will face a pretty challenging elevation change from the beginning to the end.
