Report: Salt Lake City has the 4th best job market in U.S.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Wall Street Journal released its annual rankings of the hottest job markets in the U.S. last week.

The top five cities with the strongest job markets are:

1. Austin, Texas
2. Nashville, Tenn.
3. Raleigh, N.C.
4. Salt Lake City
5. Jacksonville, Fla.

“All of the top five cities are home to large universities, state capitals or high-tech employers,” the Journal writes.

“Florida, Texas and Tennessee have no personal state income tax, while North Carolina and Utah have income and corporate tax rates of roughly 5% or less.”

It’s a slight drop for SLC, which was ranked first in last year’s list.

Provo is ranked second for the best job market in smaller metro areas.
