Utah Highway Patrol reports increase in crashes, DUIs, and speeding over Memorial Day Weekend
SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Highway Patrol conducted several enforcement projects throughout the entire state of Utah over Memorial weekend and reported an increase in deaths, crashes, speeding, and DUIs when compared to the same period last year.
Troopers recorded 148 contacts in 48 hours. Of the 148 contacts, 115 were for speeding, 17 were seatbelt violations, two were crashes and 11 involved equipment violations.
Additionally, 47 Troopers across the state participated in DUI enforcement Friday night, which resulted in 53 DUI arrests.
