Silverlode and Eagle lift upgrades appealed
PARK CITY, Utah — Four people have appealed the Park City Planning Department’s approval of the Eagle and Silverlode lift upgrades at Park City Mountain.
Under the plan, the resort will upgrade the Silverlode lift from a 6-chair to an 8-chair detachable lift and replace the Eagle and Eaglet lift with a longer single, 6-chair detachable lift.
Planning Director Gretchen Milliken approved the application after a lengthy public hearing on April 25.
As part of the ‘parking mitigation’ requested in the application, Park City Mountain announced that paid parking reservations will be implemented at the Mountain Village next season.
The appeal states that “paid parking without commensurate offsite services to accommodate displaced drivers is insufficient to prove this mitigation strategy will work, or that paid parking will not cause intrusion into nearby streets and other businesses’ premises.”
It also alleges that Milliken is in violation of the Land Management Code in both reviewing the Lift Upgrade Plan and taking final action.
Several people who spoke at the final hearing in April wanted to see the application go in front of the planning commission.
Because of the 1998 development agreement between the city and then resort owner POWDR Corp., the city has said that the lift upgrade application is subject solely to a staff-level administrative review.
The Park City Planning Commission is expected to review the appeal within 45 days.
