New Park City pickleball code amendments sets residential play at 8 am to 8 pm
PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Council voted to approve new land management code amendments for outdoor pickleball courts in residential areas at their meeting on Thursday.
The new amendments allow for commercial and public pickleball courts through the conditional use permit process, with a focus on minimizing sound impacts.
The code enacts the following:
- Requiring a minimum 600-foot setback from lot lines of adjacent residential properties for pickleball courts with no noise mitigation.
- Allowing for reduced setbacks that are no less than 150 feet from adjacent residential property lines when a property owner demonstrates the outdoor pickleball court will comply with the noise ordinance.
- Requiring HOA notification for properties that are part of a HOA registered with the city.
- Establishing baseline hours of play of 8 am – 8pm.
- Prohibiting outdoor lighting of residential courts.
- Requiring guest parking on-site.
- Requiring additional landscaping for noise and visual mitigation measures.
