Heber City Police arrests man after protective order violation and foot-chase

HEBER CITY, Utah — At 11:09 am on Wednesday, Heber City Police was dispatched to a protective order violation that a female reported to Wasatch County Dispatch about her husband, declaring that he was suicidal.

When officers arrived at the home, they tried multiple times to make contact with the husband, according to a Heber City Police Department press release.

“Based on the totality of circumstances, that being a felony domestic violence protective order violation, history of the offender, and suicidal threats reported to law enforcement, Heber/Wasatch SWAT was called out,” the release said.

While at the residence, officers later discovered that the 53-year-old man had potentially left on foot before law enforcement arrived.

“The SWAT team entered the residence and was unable to locate anyone inside,” the press release said.

“Law Enforcement was able to contact the husband by phone. He would not corporate with the officer who made phone contact.”

Phone records and tips from several community members eventually led to the police locating the man at a nearby business hiding in a vehicle that did not belong to him.

He has since been booked into the Wasatch County Jail and is facing several criminal charges.

Utah Highway Patrol also contributed to the apprehension.
