New Millcreek Commons to feature largest outdoor ice skating rink in Utah

MILLCREEK, Utah — With construction roughly 75% complete, the new Millcreek Commons is very close to providing a much needed outdoor space and recreation area for families and individuals in the community.

But the commons is no ordinary town square. Featuring the “Skate Loop”, an 11,000 square feet ice-skating/roller-skating area, Millcreek is about to become the home of Utah’s largest outdoor ice rink.

“The Skate Loop will be a great outdoor space to bring our community together,” Councilman Thom DeSirant told ABC4. “Millcreek has a long history of outstanding events, and Millcreek Common gives our city an amenity space like no other.”

With an impressive coolant system out of Ontario, Canada, ice-skating will be available at temperatures of 55 degrees or colder. Additionally, roller-skating will also be available during the summer.

“We’re excited to have this wonderful amenity in Millcreek,” City Councilwoman Cheri Jackson mentioned to ABC4. “It will be an opportunity for families to gather for countless events, and eventually for shopping and dining, too.”

Millcreek City Hall will be holding a groundbreaking and sneak peak of Millcreek Common skate loop on Thursday, March 17 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Those interested in attending can RSVP here.
