Federation of International Skiing announces cancellation of all events in Russia

PARK CITY, Utah — After Russia invaded Ukraine, the Federation of International Skiing (FIS) announced the cancellation of all remaining events that were set to take place in Russia for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

This cancellation will affect six total events. The first of which included the FIS Ski Cross World Cup and the FIS Aerials World Cup, which were formerly scheduled for this last weekend from February 25-26. While competitors were on site before the cancellation was announced, the FIS worked quickly to get them home safely.

Despite the cancellation, Russian athletes will still be able to compete at the FIS competitions but without the Russian flag or anthem, which will be replaced with the FIS flag and anthem.

Replacement dates and locations for the canceled events will be announced at a later date. The following is a list of all canceled events:

FIS Ski Cross World Cup – 25-27 February, Sunny Valley (RUS)
FIS Aerials World Cup – 26-27 February, Yaroslavl (RUS)
FIS Aerials World Cup – 5 March, Moscow (RUS)
FIS Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup – 18-20 March, Nizhny Tagil (RUS)
FIS Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup – 25-27 March Chaikovsky (RUS)
FIS Cross Country World Cup – 18-20 March, Tyumen (RUS)
