Farquharson finishes 12th in Women’s Luge Singles

BEIJING — Park City’s Ashley Farquharson, 22, placed 12th at her first Olympic Games in today’s Women’s Luge Singles event in Beijing, outsliding both of her multi-Olympian USA Luge teammates. Her four-run composite time was 3 minutes and 56.407 seconds.

Park City hosted a watch party at her parent’s restaurant, Clockwork Cafe, where family and friends cheered her on, wearing t-shirts that say, “Team Ashley.”

A Park City High School graduate and member of the Youth Sports Alliance, Ashley Farquharson is coached by 1988 Olympian, Jon Owen at the Utah Olympic Park

New mom, German Natalie Geisenberger became the first woman to win three individual gold medals with her countrymate Anna Berreiter getting silver and the Russian Olympic Committee’s Tatyana Ivanova taking the bronze.

Farquharson will slide again later this week in Beijing for the Team Relay event.
