“I am really proud of my 3 teams this season. The players were focused, which made my job easier. It is a great opportunity to develop both players and teams when they are motivated for success, said coach Paulo Franco to Townlift. “We won everything this season, my Boys 2011, 2007 and 2008 teams all won the Utah UYSA (Utah Youth Soccer Association) Fall League in their divisions, as well as some tournaments over the summer. The Boys 2011 also just won the Hero’s Cup in Mesquite last weekend, beating some Premier teams along the way. All three teams also had leading scorers in the UYSA divisions. I am happy to be coaching these groups of players.”
Coach Paulo Franco has been with the PCSC for three years.
A five-year player in the club, 14-year-old Tory Hoffman told TownLift, “The Mesquite tournament was fun because I have done few travel tournaments and the weather down in Mesquite was nice and sunny. Being around teammates was a very fun experience as well as it helped the team bond.”
Ulvi told TownLift, “For the past four years our coaching staff has been working hard on progressing our identity as a club. Gradually our teams have begun to show similarities in our philosophies and methodology in the way they train and play. The results have started to show not only in the quality of our style of play across the board, but also in competitive success in tournaments and league play. This fall we have at least 6 teams promoting and for the first time zero teams relegating to a lower division. Our goal differential as a club has almost doubled from this time last year. Constant progress from a talented coaching staff and dedicated player pool is helping Park City Soccer Club move toward a bright future.`
Next up, they move into their winter training season which will be peppered with tournament travel, including our B09 and G09 Red teams traveling to Oceanside, CA in early December for the Cardiff Sockers Cup. Many teams will also be participating in a futsal league over in Heber this winter, while a few will travel to Salt Lake to participate in an indoor soccer league.
Club-wide, PCSC will be resuming with their Annual Awards Night on February 7 (after a year off due to Covid), and the Club’s Annual General Meeting in late March.
Certifying as a referee is an option within the program. New ref Hoffman said, “Working as a ref is a very fine experience because it includes being able to watch soccer while earning some money at a young age.”
Scholarships are available, thanks in part to the Solomon Fund, and donations are accepted.
Each PCSC year-round experience begins with team tryouts/player placements in May and over the summer national soccer camps are hosted along with Park City’s Extreme Cup Tournament.
