Veterans Day with the National Ability Center

PARK CITY, Utah. — In recognition of Thursday’s Veterans Day, the National Ability Center (NAC) will set up a field of 150 American flags at the Miners Hospital and Community Center from November 8 – 15, and on Wednesday, November 10, they’ll have a Saluting Our Heroes Honorary Walk around City Park at 9:00 am.

Honor a personal hero at the Field of Flags by writing their name on a blank flag provided for an optional donation and place it in the field. After the Field of Flags ceremony and words from the National Ability Center and a guest speaker, walk around City Park to honor the military community. Coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts will be available.

The NAC has always served the military community through individual lessons, family camps and retreats, and adventure programs. With over 1,500 military participants annually, this audience is a critical part of the heartbeat of the adaptive mission and is one of the largest populations served at the NAC.

There are also opportunities to Sponsor a Soldier by donating online or sponsoring our military programs. For information on sponsorships please contact Caitlin Bognaski at caitlinb@discovernac.org.

“For over 30 years, our continuing mission has been to provide programming that empowers participants of all abilities – including athletes, veterans, adults and children – to achieve more than they feel physically and emotionally capable of doing.  Service members and their families deserve high-quality, non-institutional environments where they can truly connect and heal. They need programs that support and challenge them to learn new skills, set higher goals, improve communication, and extend their reach beyond perceived limits. Since 1985, the National Ability Center has served thousands of veterans, active duty soldiers and their families. All funds raised at the Saluting Our Heroes will support programs for military service members and their families at the National Ability Center,” writes the NAC.

The Miner’s Hospital Community Center is an historic building that now serves the Park City community as a meeting space for nonprofits, corporate retreats, and private gatherings. The building is surrounded by gardens nestled in the middle of City Park.
