Park City School Board to meet on Tuesday following county investigation

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City School District (PCSD) Board is set to meet at district offices on Tuesday starting at 4 p.m. There is time scheduled for public comment at 5 p.m.

Two elementary schools — Parley’s Park and Trailside — are currently under mask mandates after they reached the 2% Covid case threshold. The schools are required to institute two-week mask requirements at the 2% threshold because of a Summit County Health Department (SCHD) public health order issued in August.

Loose enforcement of the mask order at Parley’s Park forced an investigation by the SCHD. SCHD conducted four separate compliance visits at the school since November 8.

The PCSD Board of Education released a statement on Monday, saying that the SCHD found that Parley’s Park “has taken necessary measures with staff, students, parents/guardians, visitors and the physical environment to ensure compliance with the Public Health Order.”

Ecker Hill Middle School appears to be nearing the mask requirement. According to the school’s website, the case threshold is currently at 1.67%. The data was last updated on Monday evening.

“Additional inspections will be conducted at the discretion of the Summit County Health Department,” the letter said. “We are actively preparing each of our school sites that fall under the Public Health Order to ensure compliance if a mandate is to be triggered.”
