No snow in the forecast this week
PARK CITY, Utah — The National Weather Service is not predicting any snow in their Park City forecast for this week. The beginning of December will consist mostly of clear and sunny skies, with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s.
“A bulletproof area of high pressure remains in control of the Intermountain West,” writes meteorologist Chris Tomer.
Schweitzer ski resort in northern Idaho was forced to close this week due to warm weather.
Based on current conditions & a warm forecast this week, we will be closed Mon-Fri Nov 29-Dec 3 🙁
Without freezing temps, we can’t make snow, move snow around & recover. Looks like temps start cooling Fri – hopefully we can fire up the snowguns again & continue making snow. pic.twitter.com/imiwVtubPB— Schweitzer (@SchweitzerID) November 28, 2021
Tomer suggests the weather pattern may change come next Tuesday, December 7. “But, my guest says it might take more than one storm system to break down this large high-pressure ridge,” he said.
While no snow is expected to through December 5, Tomer suggests Park City could see over a foot by December 8.
Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) had to delay its opening on November 19. PCMR opened in a limited capacity in Canyons Village on Sunday. Park City Mountain Village will open with the First Time and Payday lifts on Wednesday.
Deer Valley Resort is scheduled to open on Saturday, December 4.
