Ecker Hill Middle School now under mask mandate
PARK CITY, Utah — According to a letter from the Ecker Hill Middle School (EHMS) Principal Amy Jenkins, EHMS joined Parley’s Park Elementary and Trailside Elementary in crossing the 2% COVID-19 case threshold on Wednesday, triggering a two-week mask mandate at the school.
Students must meet one of the following criteria to be in school:
- Wear a face mask or face shield (both are allowed).
- Participate in schooling from home using the school’s LMS (Canvas) to access CORE lessons.
- Complete and provide mask exemption paperwork completed by a qualified medical professional. (Please contact AP Melissa Tschabrun (6th grade) or AP Martin Briggs (7th grade) for this form.)
EHMS Principal Amy Jenkins said the school would provide children with a mask if they do not have one.
Jenkins said parents could contact her with any questions or concerns at 435-645-5610.
A public health order issued by Summit County Health Director Dr. Phil Bondurant in August requires face-coverings if any individual elementary school campus reaches a two percent 14-day COVID-19 positivity rate among the total number of students, staff, and faculty.
The order stays in effect for two weeks. If the case threshold drops below 2% after those 14 days, the order is dropped. However, if the threshold stays above 2%, the order is extended.
