City Park will have three free ice rinks this winter

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Recreation Department is planning on implementing three free ice rinks at City Park this winter.

The pilot program will provide citizens access to ice skating and pond hockey during the peak of the winter sports season. The concept is similar to the popular skating pond at Willow Creek Park.

The recreation department has purchased three, 60 ft by 10 ft, non-refrigerated outdoor rink kits that will be installed on the three tennis courts at the northeast corner of City Park. An added benefit of being at the park is the availability of lighting for skating into the evening.

They are currently planning to install the rinks in early December, however, the schedule is weather dependent. The outdoor ice will remain operational along with seasonal weather conditions, possibly as late as March.

The current targeted opening time for the rinks is 10 am to 10 pm daily.

Pond hockey nets will be provided by the Park City Ice Arena. Skate rentals will not be available on-site.
