PC Reads hosting an event for parents and giving books to teachers
PARK CITY, Utah. — PC Reads is having a new event as a part of its program of Elevating Literacy which is designed to ensure that effective reading instruction is provided to all students by educating and supporting parents, students, and teachers. They also provide professional development grants and resources for teachers.
Tuesday, November 2, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm Blair Conference Center, Rooms B & C (inside Park City Hospital)
Pre-registration is required on their website.
“This is a great presentation for parents of PreK-5th grade students. One of our goals at PC READS is to ensure that struggling readers are identified early, and this event is set up to educate parents. It’s NOT specific to struggling readers. Rather it is an overview of how kids learn to read. When parents understand reading skills and instruction, they are able to better collaborate with teachers and support their children at home.” Elissa Aten, Executive Director PC READS, Certified Dyslexia Advocate
Learning the process of learning to read can be quite complex. Learn more about the science behind learning to read and leave with specific tips on how you can support your child’s reading development at home.

“All parents hope that their children develop strong reading skills, both because reading is an essential life skill and because reading for pleasure brings many people joy. When parents understand reading skills & instruction, they are able to better collaborate with teachers and support their children at home,” said Aten.
