Sales tax in June set a record for Park City

PARK CITY, Utah — According to a Park City staff report, June 2021 set a record for the highest sales revenues the City has seen in any June on record.

June fiscal year (FY) 2021 sales tax was up 89 percent compared to June FY 2020. It was up 54 percent compared to pre-pandemic FY 2019 numbers.

The City’s General Fund sales tax collection (includes resort tax) finished  FY 2021 up 11 percent year-over-year.

The Transient Room Tax (TRT) ended FY 2021 up 0.3 percent compared to FY 2019. The slight increase set a new record annual high for the tax.

“This success comes with a considerable demand on the community’s infrastructure and ability to meet day-to-day service levels, particularly in the areas of public works, law enforcement, building and transportation, and recreation,” the report said.

“In most cases, the increase in tax revenues matches an immediate increase in demand for services by our residents and visitors.”
