Park City Point 2 Point happy to be back
PARK CITY, Utah — Last weekend, the Park City Point 2 Point (P2P) took place, a 75-mile mountain bike race with over 12,000 feet in elevation.
The event was canceled in 2020 because of the pandemic.
350 riders toed the line at 7 am in Round Valley to kick off this year’s event. It was a brisk 36 degrees at the start. This year’s female Open/Pro champion is Park City local, Evelyn Dong. This is her third win at P2P, and certainly the most decisive. She was 18th overall and the only female rider to crack the coveted under 8 hour mark, it was impressive.
The men’s Open/Pro winner was 23-year-old Tanner Visnick, who overtook the then race leader (Truman Glasgow) when he had to pull over briefly while climbing Armstrong. Tanner never relinquished the lead after that.
The top three was rounded out by cycling phenom, Lachlan Mortan, who is no stranger to the podium in Utah, as he won the last Tour of Utah.
I wanted to thank the residents of Park City for working with us to hold this race last Saturday, this is one of the premier endurance races in the West, and riders come from over 20 states each year to participate, said Burke.
