Volunteers needed for restoration projects

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County Public Lands and Basin Recreation are looking for volunteers to help out at several restoration events.

The projects are in partnership with the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, Wild Utah Project, and TreeUtah.

Below are the projects:

  • Bonanza Flat — August 27 (9 am – 4 pm). Volunteers will be transplanting vegetation from a healthy vegetation community to the area surrounding Bloods Lake. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and hike up to 6 miles. “Be prepared to get in the water,” the announcement said. Sign up here.
  • Toll Canyon Open Space in Summit Park — September 10, 11, 17, 18 (9 am – 3 pm). This project may require hiking up to 3/4 mile on a trail from vehicles. Sign up here.
  • East Canyon Creek at Jeremy Ranch — September 24 (9 am – 3 pm). This project will require hiking 1/4 mile on a trail and uneven terrain from vehicles. Sign up here.
  • Beaver Dam Analog (BDAs) Building at Swaner Nature Center + Eco Preserve — September 9, 11, 15, 16, 17, 25 (9 am – 3 pm). We will be walking over uneven terrain, walking through a stream in the water, and bending over for extended periods of time. Volunteers must be 14+. Sign up here.
