Sundance 2022 will require vaccinations for moviegoers
PARK CITY, Utah — Sundance Film Festival Director Tabitha Jackson recently published a statement regarding the logistics of the upcoming festival.
The 2021 Festival was entirely virtual, taking place on screens around the country. “It was Sundance, in a new form,” she writes.
“As part of our commitment to this community, we will be requiring all participants attending the Festival, or Sundance-affiliated events, in person in Utah to be fully vaccinated.”
The 2022 program will be larger than last year’s, but it will remain somewhere in the realm of 80 features.
There will be in-person screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City, and at the Sundance Mountain Resort.
Films will premiere from Thursday, January 20, through Tuesday, January 25. Awards will be announced on January 28.
Submissions are now open, and they are currently building the festival program.
Similar to last year, the festival will also be offering satellite screenings with selections from the program during the closing weekend: January 28-30.
“For the bold, the curious, the independent-minded everywhere, I’m looking forward to seeing you in Utah and beyond in 2022.”
