Recent rain has improved southern Utah’s drought monitor ranking
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The National Weather Service (NWS) said the impact of the recent monsoon in southern Utah has been “significant.”
“This has been one of the more substantial monsoon impacts any of us can remember,” the Salt Lake City NWS office wrote.

Capitol Reef National Park had its 2nd wettest July on record, and its 6th wettest month ever (records dating back to 1938).
Under the new rankings, Summit County is still under an “extreme drought.” The biggest winner of the rainfall is southwest Utah, where the entire area saw drought improvement.
