PC Miners football lose at home against Heber’s Wasatch Wasps

PARK CITY, Utah. — In their non-conference home opener against the Wasatch Wasps from Heber, The Park City High School Varsity Miners lost in the rivalry region six game 21 – 15.

The home crowd showed up strong to support their team on this clear but hot Friday night under the lights.

Miner Braden Meyer caught the first touchdown pass of the season from 34 yards out starting Park City up 6 – 0. Wasatch dominated much of the game, however, up until the third quarter when the Miners caught a go-ahead touchdown making it 15 – 14 but the Wasps from Heber passed Park City up before the clock ran out.

The next home game will be on Friday, Sept. 3 but between now and then, the Miners will play two away games facing Green Canyon High up in Logan on August 20 followed by Pine View High down in St. George on August 27.

This opening week was marred by a COVID cancellation in Utah’s high school football schedule due to one player on the Highland High team testing positive and contract tracing sidelining unvaccinated players on the roster, they were scheduled to play Bountiful.

Ticket for the upcoming home game can be purchased here.
