Fencing top tens in Tokyo for Utahn Paralympian on the day IOC former president of SLC 2002 dies

TOKYO, Japan. — Shelby Jensen of Utah completed her competition in Tokyo for the Paralympics with a seventh place in the Team event for Epee and an eight place in the Team event for the Foil. Jensen competed in multiple disciplines throughout the Games including sabre.

In the Paralympic Women’s Tokyo Team Foil, the gold went to China, silver to Italy, and bronze to Hungary.

The gold in the Team Epee also went to China while Ukraine took the silver leaving the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) to bring home the bronze.

Yesterday, former International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jaque Rogge passed away. Rogge, 79, led the Olympic and Paralympic movement during the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympic Games, created the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, and extended the Olympic and Paralympic global footprint to the South American continent for the first time with the Rio 2016 Games. President of the IOC is a lifetime position. Rogge’s successor, current IOC President Thomas Bach was an Olympic competitor in the sport of fencing.
