32-year-old dies at Zion National Park from heat exhaustion

SPRINGDALE, Utah — On Monday, August 30, dispatch at Zion National Park received a report about a 32-year-old male complaining of heat exhaustion at the exit route of the Left Fork of North Creek (Subway).

Medics and EMTs responded and found the man to be unresponsive. They administered CPR for roughly one hour before stopping resuscitation efforts per guidance by St. George Hospital medical control. He later passed away.

The man has been identified as John Henry Wolfe of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

A death investigation is currently underway by the National Park Service and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
