Utah had the lowest number of human-caused wildfires ever recorded for Pioneer week
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The Utah Department of Natural Resources announced that there were 13 human-caused wildfires statewide during the Pioneer holiday week. That is the lowest number ever recorded in the 10 years that the state has kept records.
Firefighters suppressed all 69 naturally-caused wildfires in one day last week.
“I think our residents are really stepping up,” said Kayli Yardley, Fire Prevention Specialist for the State of Utah. “They’re realizing that we are in an extreme drought. They’re really putting things together as far as what fire sense means.”
