Busy weekend for Salt Lake County Search and Rescue
SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SLCOSAR) team made multiple rescues over the weekend.
On Saturday, SLCOSAR deployed to the Mt. Olympus trail to assist with a dehydrated and immobile hiker. Several teams along with the Unified Fire Authority helped to provide medical care and transport him back to the trailhead.
At noon on Sunday, the team went to help two “adventurous young ladies” stuck on the face of Mt. Superior. The pair had scrambled up to the south slope until they were unable to go further up or down. Rope systems were used to belay the two up to the trail.
While the rescue of the two women was in progress, a hiker along the Alpine Ridge on the top of the Wasatch called for help. The man had started along the White Pine Trail, but became stuck while trying to descend toward a basin above Silver Lake Flat. Lifeflight was called in and determined they could assist. The helicopter landed on the ridge, while medics retrieved the patient.
All teams and patients were safely back at base around 6 p.m. on Sunday.
